Insurance and genetic testing

Angela

So my insurance doesn’t cover any genetic testing, no exceptions. So I called LabCorp (where my insurance requires me to have labs done) and asked how much the fancy test that also tells gender would be out of pocket. $1100, BUT if I just paid up front and didn’t submit to my insurance it would only be $449! That’s still quite a bit but definitely more doable. I’m also no spring chicken so I might do it just for peace of mind.
