Itch+discharge days after protected sex?

It was 8 days until my supposed period, and my bf and I had sex using condom. Sometime during the act I had orgasm but it was rather intense and I started sobbing, and even had to stop him so that I can excuse myself to the restroom to relieve myself (and my bladder). Days after that it began to feel kinda itchy down there, and that's when I noticed the yellow-ish discharge. So I decided to use anti-fungal cream, but 2 days after I still have discharge (it's white now) and still -- the itch! Is there any explanation for that? Is it because of the sex, or is it because I'm nearing my period?
