8 mo old stool question?

My 8 month old has extremely hard stool, he won't drink juice and has been refusing all baby food lately so feeding him prunes etc is also out... is there any thing else I can do to help loosen his stool? He will go a couple days with out pooping then when he does its not much and extremely hard...(TMI: like i can squeeze the poop inside the diaper and it's like really hard clay). Needing some advice asap! Thanks!

he can also have up to four ounces of water or juice a day. the syringe truck really works for me when he doesn't want it but absolutely needs it.

try giving him prunes and juice through a medicine syringe. i've had to do this multiple times for my son because he gets constipated easily as well. don't feed him bananas or rice, those are very binding and can make it hard for him to go. you could also try taking his temperature rectally and very gently move thermometer around in small circles, it should not be pushed in very far at all. you may need to try a couple times. also they make baby suppositories that you can break in half and use if necessary. these were all suggested to me by my sons doctor and it has worked for him. make sure to talk to your doctor if it gets worse!
