Can you give newborn a pacifier?

FTM to be here! I’ve read some conflicting info on this topic. Is it a good idea to offer a newborn a pacifier or will it cause nipple confusion? If you waited, how long did you wait? Thank you!

My baby is 8 weeks old and I’ve give him a pacifier since birth. He loves his Paci and he is SO good at breastfeeding, never any issues

I chose too simply because it reduces the risk on SIDS.

I was against it till the hospital stated the a pacifier reduces the risk of sids. Now I all about them lol.

I did on day 2 because she likes to suck sometimes. Like she doesn't want to eat, she just wants to suck.

it is recommended not to give them one for the first 28 days to avoid nipple confusion. after that it is fine

It’s fine! We waited 3 weeks with our first, but my SIL never waited to give hers binkies

We have tried every type that’s available, from the fancy nature rubber ones to the cheapest, big and small, round and flat ones, and he still spits them out like they are poisonous. Tried first time when he was about two weeks old, now he is 13weeks old, we still try a few times a week.

my hospital discouraged pacifier use. my daughter wouldn't take a bottle, a pacifier, nothing but breast. it made life a bit harder on me. I'll be introducing one earlier this time.

the choice is honestly yours we chopse to give it to our duaghter only because she needed extra comfort while being stuck under the lights for 2 days. we did have a hard time with latching but it was more due to thw fact that i was uncomfortable and with her being wrapped in the light just for me to feed her was not helping the situation. but in the end i just didnt make enough milk to continue trying.

My daughter had latching problems and they were worried about her eating so they suggested a pacifier to teach her how to suck it worked plus she stopped using it on her own
