Have you been Induced before?

Had my doctors appointment yesterday, today I am 38 weeks and 5 days where I was already 2cm dilated but Yesterday my midwife was going over a few things and she decided to touch base on induction since my office doesn’t like to let anyone carry over 40 weeks, if I don’t go into labor naturally she said she would induce. I’ve never really considered induction (just because everyone dreams of their water breaking randomly and such) is it as bad as everyone says? I’ve heard your contractions are worse on pitocin, and that it’s impossible to be induced without the epidural. Just a FTM looking for some advice from fellow moms!

My waters broke but I didn’t get contractions so I was induced 2 days later. I thought being induced was great and quick. It was 6 hours 24 minutes from when I started with the drop to giving birth. I didn’t think contractions were bad in fact I didn’t even know when they were coming. (I may have a good pain tolerance tho). 
I didn’t like that you can’t move as baby has to be monitored the whole time and I kept pushing the whole time as my body was confused what was going on so I was pretty tired, however that’s rare for that to happen said my midwife. 
I’m now pregnant with no. 2 and more nervous to have baby without being induced now 🤣

I’ve had two inductions and both were quick and relatively easy. The contractions were unbearable- and I asked for epidural around 5-6cm. Once I had time for it and IT WAS UNBELIEVABLE RELIEF and once I didn’t have time and was already at a 9 by the time anesthesiologist arrived (15 mins). I DID get something to sort of numb me while I pushed so I never felt ring of fire. I don’t know if natural labor would have been the same pain, but I did NOT get breaks between contractions. From 5cm-9cm was like one long 15 min contraction. HOWEVER- in hindsight 15 mins is NO TIME AT ALL. My entire induction took 3 hours both times. So, yes- painful but I have opted to be induced at 39 weeks if I don’t go before then because both experiences were so quick and (especially if you ask for pain relief soon enough) easy!!  Good luck

You can get induced without epidural, I did to have my son. Agreed though on potocin, the cramps hit and they hit FAST and HARD!!!

I had an induction with my 1st. I did it without any meds or epidural all natural. I was started on it at 10 am and had my son at 4pm the contractions just felt like really bad cramps but I kept myself mentally prepared and focused then my body just asked to push and I did 3 pushes he was out. I did tear from hole to hole so make sure they do a proper episiotomy if needed. if you need the epidural get it it's to eachs own!! there's nothing wrong with it. pain is pain and it hurts alot.

I was induced with my first.. I was dilated 2cm and 80% thinned when I went in, I labored and pushed for 9 hours total. All natural, no pain meds whatsoever..

It's not the funnest way to go but nothing about child birth is a walk in the park.  Im upset to be induced again but in the end,  baby born is the desired and achieved result.  You'll be good.

With my first my water broke but contractions were not doing anything. It was 12 hours after they started the Pitocin. The contractions definitely got worse once it was started so I got the epidural. This time I was supposed to be induced at 41+1 but went into labor hours before I was scheduled to check into the hospital and went much quicker.
