Chocolate affects breast milk?

I’ve heard caffeine can affect our milk & change baby’s behavior. My daughter usually feeds at 11pm 3am & 7am I had a chocolate bar yesterday & she literally was up from 12am until 6:30am, fussy & crying all night. I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the caffeine in chocolate

Chocolate doesn’t have that much caffeine in it and babies only get a fraction of the caffeine you take in so I would think it would take a lot more than just a chocolate bar. What else did you have? I hear dairy can upset them but it could just be an off day... only way to find out is in a couple days eat another and see if the same thing happens

I drink coffee all day! My baby hasn’t been effected at all. Also my freezer is full of milk. And my daughter is only a month old. Like I need to either throw some milk away or buy a new freezer because nothing else can fit! The only way I can see the coffee affecting the baby is if your baby can’t handle the dairy that’s in the milk.

I haven’t noticed a difference with my baby with caffeine. My diets usually pretty plain. I’ve only noticed when I eat dairy it has an effect on him. I’ve heard spicy foods can affect it.

one chocolate bar has minimal caffeine and won't affect your baby. sometimes they're just fussy.

My 10 month old is a terrible, no good, very bad sleeper 😉 over the last 8 months I've tried EVERYTHING to get him to sleep better (sans anything involving tears, not our style). So I can say with confidence that FOR US caffeine made NO difference. However, some babies can be more sensitive to caffeine. It doesn't hurt (much) to skip coffee for a couple days and see if it makes a difference. Good Luck!!
