couldn't find cervix

got checked today and baby boyd head is so low she couldnt find cervix to check if i was dilated anymore. Im 39 weeks. Has anyone had this issue and if so did you go into labor soon after? I have been having irregular very painful contractions for the past two days. measuring at 41 weeks so i don't know if that makes a difference.
