Exactly 24hrs after my water broke, my husbands grandpa, the patriarch of the family, passed peacefully after months of failing health. It is amazing to me how life works itself out in ways like that. It is nice to have a newborn for the family to distract themselves at times from all the saddness, but I know it must be difficult to be on both sides of the emotional spectrum at the same time. The baby is the first born great grandchild and is the 4th Thomas, all being first born sons.
