Birth certificates and legality?

With married heterosexual couples, the husband is automatically declared the father unless he signs some paper disclaiming paternity or whatever. But with a lesbian couple, how will my life be placed on the birth certificate? Will she?

In Oklahoma when our daughter was born I was listed as father automatically, but now they have birth certificates here that say mother/mother. I would ask your OB or hospital!

absolutely look up your State's rules, it is always different. 
My ex-wife and I were registered domestic Partners in Oregon before marriage was legal. According to Oregon State law I was automatically second-parent on the birth certificate when she gave birth to our son. We also covered our bases in case we left the state and I completed a second-parent adoption for him. 
Again this was all before marriage was legal. but still, even after all that, when I went to look at his medical records I have to bring in the birth certificate and the adoption papers. it's fucking ridiculous.

Varies from state to state. Either she will be listed on birth certificate OR she will have to adopt the child.
