Due Date?!

I find it strange that when I went for an ultrasound she gave me a different due date than my doctor did, my doctor is clearly going by my last menstrual cycle but I thought the ultrasound let’s you know your due date?!

the dating ultrasound done before the 13th week is the only one whose measurements you should go off of and the docs normally dont change due date unless it's a week or more of a difference

Your baby can also measure larger on ultrasound than their gestational age. At our 18 week ultrasound my daughter measured 19+4 because she has long arms and legs. That didn't change her due date, she is just measuring around the 72nd percentile for her gestational age.

At first they start counting from the first day of your last period. The average ovulation happens on CD14. But as the word average suggests: you might have ovulated earlier or later than CD14. There are girls who ovulate on CD21 or CD23. Implantation can happen from 4 to 10 (sometimes 12) days after you ovulation. So, the counting can actually be off by 2 weeks!

That's why it is better to stick to the ultrasound measurements. They are accurate. Your due date can change several times throughout your pregnancy.

Same exact thing happened to me according to my period due date was Oct 12. But my first ultrasound my due date was Oct 17. When I went back to OB they said due date is Oct 17 because of how baby measured.

When I went to my 20 week scan my due date was changed. At the start of the pregnancy my doctor said it would be September 6th, but the doctor at the ultrasound said it would actually be much closer to the 11th of September. I’m not really worried about it as long as I have a general idea.
