What are some of the reasons why expecting mothers don’t get the Panorama Test (NIPT)?

I just learned that I could get the full scan and the gender at 11 weeks? What are the cons for this test?

Cons - 
-it is expensive if not covered by insurance 
-it is a very sensitive test - it can be a scary ride if something is detected and further testing is needed
-in that same vein - it is testing info in mom’s blood from the placenta (not directly testing the baby) - if there is an abnormality present in the placenta (that is not present in the baby) you may see a false positive for something 
-it is 99% accurate for T23/Downs, but the accuracy for T13 and T18 is lower
-Not regulated by the FDA/each NIPT has their own algorithm for determining something is present
-not accurate for multiples
-may get “inconclusive” if mom is overweight
That being said, I had it done and it was awesome mostly because everything was OK.

We’ve never done any testing like that. I’ve seen too many mamas go through unnecessary anxiety because of a possible diagnosis only to find out a month or two later everything is fine or to go on and deliver a perfectly healthy baby. We wouldn’t terminate a pregnancy regardless of results so we just don’t get them done. It helps me since I’m especially prone to anxiety. We also don’t find out the gender, so don’t care about the blood test. It’s also an extra expense we can avoid.

If it wouldn’t change anything about your pregnancy. 
My sister never got it because she didn’t want to know the gender that early and she would never terminate. 
I got it just because it was my 3rd pregnancy (first baby) but we did the basic panel that did not tell the gender, just downs and the trisomy’s. 
It is expensive if not covered by insurance.

I didn’t get it because of cost (insurance didn’t cover it) and it wouldn’t have changed anything anyways. I am at risk for neural tube defects due to medicine I have to take, but anything I have known risk for would have been seen on the anatomy scan anyways. There was really no reason to pay the money for it in my case.
