Castor oil?

At my 38 week appt. on Monday Dr. told me my fundal height was 41cm and she wants to talk about an induction at my next appt. on the 30th if my daughter doesn’t come this week. I’ve been using castor oil the last 2 days (last night and today) as a natural inducer but was told by a couple moms that it’s really unsafe for unborn babies. What are your thoughts on it???

If you’ve been using it already, I suggest going to the hospital or your doctor. Using castor oil is VERY VERY VERY dangerous to the baby. It can cause the baby to poop & that can kill it. Chances of stillbirth are high. Did you not look it up before even doing it or asking your doctor?! I hope & pray your baby is fine 🙏  I would see the doctor ASAP especially since you’ve been using it for 2 days!

Very unsafe stop doing that you baby can have a bowel movement inside u without u knowing an it can hurt or even worse kill ur baby.

Very unsafe, can stress baby, cause baby to poop & even swallow their poop during birth. Go for walks, birthing ball, spicy food, those are good ways to try to naturally induce labor

It's very unsafe.  You need to contact your doctor and tell them that you've been taking it. this is why you should do research before trying to induce yourself.

I knew someone who’s baby was born with an infection because he was having bowel movements constantly and breathing it in. I’ve also read how it did cause a mother to go into labor but she was having bowel movements constantly and it caused her to dehydrate and have to have an emergency csection

Very beautiful idea. It can cause baby to have a bowel movement. You really don't want to see your baby in a ventilator because it has breathing problems just because you're trying to get baby to come. Or even worse you don't want to have a stillbirth because of it. It's not worth it.

talk to your ob about this some dr's won't recommend you trying castor oil as its dangerous for baby she can have a bowel movement and it can go bad. or call L&D; and let them know and ask what should you do
