Membrane Stripping/Sweeping?

38+2....my doc asked if I wanted my membranes stripped at my 38 week apt. Has anyone done this? I hear it’s painful and I was planning on having it done next week at our 39 week apt?

I had it done at 40weeks +4 with my first and I went into labor 2 days later. It was a bit uncomfortable but def bearable. I did have some spotting afterwards. Make sure you have someone drive you home from the apt because I had some cramping afterwards.

It's not that bad (at least it wasn't for me).. I had it done with my second born. Just don't freak out if you see a little spotting, that's normal (however a lot of bleeding is not). & the camping sucks a little but nothing compared to labor contractions..which should start shortly after. I was a rare one and don't go into labor until 2 whole days later. Good luck!

I just had mine yesterday and it never does anything for me. I get stripped each pregnancy (this is #3) and i never have cramps or bleeding after. It hurt the first two times but not too bad for me. Yesterday it didn’t hurt at all. Idk if she did it wrong or if it’s because she said my cervix is really really soft idk but it didn’t do a thing for me 😭 she said we can try again at 39 weeks 😑
