Birthing center denied me due to BMI
So, I’m new as I just got my BFP two days ago and about about 5 weeks. I just want to vent about this and I appreciate you guys listening (or reading lol). I have been really wanting to use this birthing center near me for my prenatal care and my delivery and when I called today to start the process, the lady said she would need to ask me some pre-screening questions to make sure I met their “low risk” standard. She asked me for my height and pre-pregnancy weight and then told me I was too high (by 3 points) and that I was more than welcome to use their classes but they couldn’t provide my care. I’m 5’4” and 220lbs and I know I’m fluffy (my endearment for my size) but it just was kind of crushing. I think mostly because I didn’t expect it from them. I totally understand because they are not a hospital and you see midwives vs. doctors, somethings that having a high BMI can put you at higher risk for, they just aren’t capable of handling. It just upset me. Anyways, thank you for letting me vent. On to better things! 😊
