Pack and play or crib?

Question

My son is just about 6 weeks old and we’re looking into what type of sleeping arrangement we should have for him. 
Currently he’s in a bassinet that is older than my husband and it has seen better days.  We felt obligated to use it for some time as it is a family piece that has been used by all 15 grandkids and 5 great grand babies.  But we’re ready to get him his own new bed. 
Suggestions??

Crib for sure. Pack and plays are great for traveling (that’s what ours is for), but they aren’t meant for long term use. Cribs are more stable and the mattresses are more firm. Most cribs these days convert to toddler beds, and some even convert to full size beds, so you’ll definitely get plenty of use out of it.

Pack n play! We used a crib for our first child & pack n plays for the other 2, and we will be using a pack n play for our 4th coming in June. 
Pack n plays are better, in our opinion. Cribs are more expensive than pack n plays. They’re more dangerous. You don’t need crib bumpers on something that already has a net around it. There’s no chance on baby getting stuck in sides without bumpers either. Pack n plays are lighter, easier to set up/take down- so easier to move around if necessary & take on vacation, even just to move from the room to the kitchen, or anywhere! AND You can fit the same mattress in one that you’d put in the crib.
I see WAY more flaws, outdated information, & recalls with cribs. So I just don’t see any reason or way that that’d be the better choice.. Choose a pack n play! (Not to mention, they have various designs/colors to choose from. Some with bassinets already and diaper changing pads! No need to buy the extra things!!)

We used a pack and play from months 4 to 10. Now he's in his crib (in our room). I cosleep when my husband is away on business. Really whatever you want to do 😊

I have both and my 6 week old sleeps in my bed with me. She was in the pack n play until cluster feeds started and it was easier to nurse in bed. Her crib is in the nursery and hasn’t been touched.

Honestly...it depends on the baby. I have a crib, bassinet, pack ‘n play, and rock and play. My baby is too small for the crib and doesn’t like the bassinet. She’s ok with the rock and play but not long. 2 hours at most and that’s if we’re lucky. You may have to try different things.

My son is in a bassinet right now & oncr he no longer fits in there I will move him over to a mattress. I just have a crib mattress on the floor.
