Are back cramps a contraction?

This morning I got what I can describe only as a Charlie horse over my entire lower back. I get them in my legs and assumed it’s just a pregnancy thing, but a friend suggested it could have been a contraction. Thoughts?

if it didn't last its not labor but to answer your question, yes you can have contractions that feel like that or even less. i was feeling light pressure on my back when i had my son.

Not a contraction, they would continue on. Maybe some early back labor due to the baby’s position.

If it was a contraction it would be braxton hicks. Real contractions don't just stop after one.
