is anyone making visitors get their whooping cough shots?

I'm due any day and the mother in law still hasn't gotten her shot and I've heard it takes a couple weeks to go into effect. Should I make her wear a face mask around baby?

Do we have the same MIL?! I literally was just telling my husband about how his mom has a week and a half until she won’t be able to hold her first grandson. We are also making people give us proof so we know they didn’t lie about getting it. You do what you have to do to protect that baby. If she doesn’t get it then it’s her own fault.

We made grandparents and great grandparents with my first (2.5 year old), so they’re still good to not be re vaccinated with this baby. But absolutely- gotta protect your baby!

Yup sucks for her! I asked both sets of grandparents and the aunts that live close by that will visit often! My in-laws gave me crap and guess what?! I don’t care! My kid=my decision—do you wanna see your grandkids or no?

Do what you need to do! We asked Grandparents to get the shot, and our daughter and us all have it. My MIL and FIL were not impressed but my husband was firm on you either get the shot or you don't hold your Grandson.

Yep! We publically asked everyone who wants to meet baby to get their TDAP and flu shots at least 2 weeks before he's born. Everyone who refuses (in-laws, which surprised us) will have to wait until our son completes his at 6 months. Their lack of faith in science does not trump our protection of our kids. We are not asking for proof, though. I'm tempted to but not going to push that particular line since it isn't my side of the family.

We definitely did for our first. Since he was born less than 2 years ago we’re not making them do it again haha. I’d just tell her she won’t be visiting the baby until she’s had the shot for two weeks. That oughta give her some motivation.
