How long can you "actually" leave a tampon in?

Now let me say I'm not dumb I know it says 8 hours on the box but it's medium flow not heavy not light either ... And the cramps aren't that bad either.. I have been using tampons since I was 16/17 and I'm 20 married and baby plus ttc again... Thanks I was just wondering

I wouldn't go over 8 hours. you run the risk of getting BV or TSS. But with saying that I have slept like 11 hrs with one in and didn't have issues.

You need to change it out as directed. It doesn’t matter if it’s not full, there’s a lot of bacteria trapped and you need to keep things as sanitary as possible to avoid an infection or even TSS.

The longest I’ve gone is 6 hours. There have been a couple nights where it’s been so heavy I couldn’t sleep cause I was scared to leak. So I wore a super tampon to bed. I made sure to change it in the middle of the night and not go longer than 6 hours.

longer than 8 hrs can cause tss (toxic shock syndrome) plus your technically supposed to change it every time you go to the bathroom as the pre can absorb into it and cause other issues
