Selfish? Baby names

We’re still early in my pregnancy but my boyfriend & I just randomly started discussing names. He said he’d like the baby to be named after him, which is Garrick. Although I like the uniqueness of the name I personally don’t like it. It sounds too old for a baby.. I don’t like the idea of a baby “growing” into a name. What do you think. Am I being selfish.. should I just name him Garrick?

I think that you should leave the option on the table and look at other names. Ideally you should both agree on something.

Don’t do it. My husband and his dad have the same name and it’s a mess. Somehow my husbands name went onto their family car insurance as the primary holder and now all the claims (from his mom, dad and sister) are in his name and now that we want to go on our own insurance, his rates are super high. And a lot of his mail still goes to his parents house because if he changes it in the mail system, there’s a good chance his dads mail will go to our house. My husband really wants our baby to have his name since it’s in 3 generations of his family, but I refuse to let my son go through the confusion.

I think it’s weird when people name their baby after the dad. 
All the names out there and they come up with the same one as their own Father?!

It’s meant to be a joint decision, he should respect that you’re not so keen on the idea.
