What do period like cramps mean in third trimester?

Carrying twins and in constant fear of preterm labor🙈  33 weeks and I get mild to moderate period like cramps multiple times a day, especially if I’m active. Doctor said he’ll check me for dilation next appointment at 34 weeks but I’m curious if this is the started of dilation or effacement

I’m 30 Weeks and getting period like cramps quite a bit during the day. I think it’s happening more since baby has dropped (s/he has been dropping and moving up for weeks but has stayed down low for over a week now). Let us know how your appointment goes. My doctor told me cramps are normal, especially if you’ve been active or haven’t had enough water. She said to call if they get severe or turn into contractions

when I had this at 33 weeks my midwife said it was because my daughter was so low in my pelvis and her head was causing alot of round ligament pain, also because of your joints being loose there
