When I put mine in I typically use the c fold (picture attached) to get it in because I find it is easier to get to pop open. I used to pop a side down to make it into a triangle so that it was a smaller end to insert but I found that I had trouble getting it to open and seal and so I was having trouble with leaking.
After I get it in, I kinda twist it around and use my fingers near the rim to make sure it opened...usually you can kinda feel it anyways, but to double check. Then I give it a SUPER GENTLE tug to make sure it is sealed and it shouldn't move. I also recently heard that it's best to have the cup either fully above or below your pubic bone so that when you move you are less likely to break the seal, I haven't experimented with that one yet cause that was just today, but AF is visiting me now anyways lol.
Above all, relax and just know that it will take a few cycles and you might have to try different shape, size, firmer/less firm cups to find the right one(s).
I currently use the lunette smaller size (days 1 and part way through day 3 to the end; my lighter flow) and the diva big size (for day 2 and part of day 3; my heavy flow).
I love the lunette because it is like firm enough but not too firm and the perfect size but I have to change it every 2 to 3 hours on my heavy days for some reason. I got the diva impulsively at walmart to try for my heavier flow but its so long and firm that I think it gives me more cramps whereas the lunette doesn't.
I probably will swap to a bigger lunette cup in the near future and get rid of the other two. I've been experimenting with the above combo for probably 5 cycles now.

Also MAKE sure you get a good gentle cleanser. I just got one from the conpany that makes lunette cups and the cleansing wipes for on the go too. Was so worth the money knowing that I had something menstrual cup and vagina friendly.
Sorry this was long and drawn out but I wish I knew half of these tips and researched cups a bit more before choosing one and now that I know, I don't mind sharing all the tips to make others' experiences much better than my own.
