Bug Bite?! Identify?

My husband has this on his foot and says it itches all around the red area and past it. Can anyone identify what did this? I thought chiger bite at first but now I'm thinking spider?

Whatever it is looks like it's on its way to infection. Try alcohol to dry it out and hopefully stop the itching.

That’s definitely not a chiger bite. Chiger bites are small and multiple little spots clustered together. That looks like a spider bite.
