Swimming in a lake or river while pregnant?

I’m not fond of swimming in fresh water either way. If it’s not the ocean or a chlorinated pool I’d probably pass on a swim

A lot of rivers and lakes have nasty levels of E. coli, staph, and other gross stuff in them, which I’m not interested in dipping my pregnant body in.

I don’t see why it would be a problem, but then I live on the coast of Queensland (Australia) so we have beaches everywhere instead of lakes and rivers

our river is too cold to get in right now (too cold for me), i live in south florida. plus we have algae blooms and red tide issues. then saw a big fish a shark bit in the river, most likely a bull shark. we are have quite a drought so the gators are in every lake, anywhere they find water.  lol....i say NO to rivers and lakes down here. here's a fish from the river yesterday

The rivers near me is tested multiple times a year and 80% of the tests come back positive for e coli. I probably won't be going to the river this year, just sticking with pools but that's just me. 🤷☺
