How much did your delivery cost out-of-pocket?

I'm curious to what the average women is actually paying for their deliveries after insurance/assistance. It seems like our bills are outrageous! 😩

I’m in Canada and we have universal health care so it doesn’t cost a thing the entire pregnancy or delivery!

I had an emergency c section and the total billed to my insurance was ~$30,000. I paid ~$3,000 out of pocket. And I had my insurance and my husband’s. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We had good insurance last time so they paid for everything. My total bill was just over $300k, but we paid nothing.

It really varies by policy. One baby it was $5k, another baby it was $200, same type of birth same hospital same Dr. It all depends on your deductible and coinsurance

I have a $750 co-pay for my maternity stay, but that’s it except for one additional co-pay of $30 I paid for my first prenatal appointment

I used a birth center so everything is out of pocket. But insurance reimburses most afterward

Of course this is all just for delivery... when I figure in the cost of an unpaid maternity leave (which I’m lucky I can afford), the loss of income and contribution to retirement during that time... babies are expensive!
