How much spotting is too much?

Question

Had a pap smear yesterday at my appointment . Had blood come out afterwards. Doctor said it should be ok today. But i still had spotting until lunch time today. And then it slowly went away.
I am still worried that something might have gone wrong. How do I ensure everything is alright? 
Should I call my nurses and tell them? I don’t know what to do.

I have had spotting on and off during my pregnancy since 16w. Most often, it happens after sex, but sometimes it occurs seemingly unprompted as well. I have seen two different doctors during my pregnancy, and neither of them finds it alarming—even when I told them it had once gone on for 3 days in a row. If it doesn’t go away within a few days, or if it gets heavier and is accompanied by cramping, then there may be cause for concern and you should call your doctor, otherwise, try not to worry (easier said than done, I know!)
