Felony charges and Moving?

Okay y'all, bare with me. My SO is a state charged felon, that being said we are talking about moving into either an apartment or a house because living with his parents is getting hard. We also don't want to be bothersome since his parents are getting older and most likely want to be alone.

With that being said, I've looked at what our options are and all these apartments around us practically don't allow felons. He can't co-sign and I'd have to have everything in my name. With houses I feel like it would be a little different? It would still be in my name and he can help with bills and such but would it be an issue of being a felon there too? I'd love to move out and live together on our own, but this is making it kinda hard...any ideas or tips?

We've also looked into getting a tiny home? With that we could live on our own and live in a park or RV village. They run about 40k so I'd have to take out a loan, and I'd need a co-sign for that too.

We are mainly trying to figure anything and everything out.

I'd rather go through something where we are both protected, but if it comes to it I'll have to try that. Hopefully it doesn't!

That really sucks, I’m sorry to hear that 😣 maybe it will be different with a house. I’m helping a friend of mine find an apartment and she has a record. The only places that allow her in are in awful and dangerous neighborhoods!

We might just say fuck it and purchase a tiny home...🙂 most RV parks and tiny living villages don't care about background

I'm confused as to why you can't rent a place. I've rented and bought a house and I don't recall being asked if I was a felon or been arrested or anything like that. Usually if you have the money and the credit, you can get a place to live. They do a credit check but not normally a background check.

She's right. Go on craiglist or hot pads. Or for rent by owners....it's just regular people who want to rent their place out. They just care about if you can pay rent on time. Good luck.

I will bring up the idea of renting through owner to him once he's home from work. He's the last child of 8 so you could understand why we want to move out 😂

Ooooo i never thought about doing that! We've just been looking at apartments through big companies. I will totally have to look into it.

The laws to help these people back up on their feet really, really sucks.
