Is losing sperm during sperm wash normal?

Hi, I had my first IUI on Tuesday and during the sperm wash, we lost a lot of sperm. Is it normal for a lot of sperm to die during the process? Anyone else have this experience?

I know washing helps weed out the weak ones, but I’m a bit concerned about the amount we lost.

I don’t have the after wash counts just the prewash which was 60 million. I was able to see a sample under the microscope pre wash and post wash, and there were very few swimmers in post wash sample. 😔

Would love any of your thoughts or experiences. The TWW is not fun and knowing that I’m not alone with this sperm issue would be helpful.
