Safe to lose weight while pregnant?

So I am overweight and terrified to gain even more weight when pregnant. Is it safe for baby to lose weight while pregnant? If so, anybody have diet plans or want to share what worked for you?

Its safe if your body does it on its own but i wouldnt recommend being on a diet to loose weight just maintain it. Ask your DR just to be sure. I was pre diabetic and they had me as fully diabetic once i become pregnant so i had to go on a strict keto diet monitered by my doctor to keep my glucose levels low. I lost 20 lbs in the first month of pregnancy (no morning sickness) and now im just trying to keep my weight gain limited (10-15 lbs) but not loose any. I went from 195 to 176 and now i weight 180 at 25 weeks

I’m overweight too and pregnant and if we’re honest here I’m more like obese but that’s besides the point lol My dr doesn’t want to see me lose any weight. She says I should gain 10-15lbs and worry about losing after the baby is born. So I don’t think they like for you to lose weight while pregnant but you can talk with your dr about it and see what your options are as they maybe different.

I would focus on healthy eating and at least walking 30 minutes a day. My first I lost 9 pounds in the first trimester. And gained very little. I wasn’t obese but I was over weight. This time around I’m more fit but my doctor told me no diets just eat healthy.

My bmi is 33 and Im hoping I lose a little in the first trimester. Im cutting out all the crap I eat that provides no nutrition (pop, candy, fastfood, chips, pizza) and adding more fruit and veg. I wont be counting calories or restricting anything else though. Im also hoping to swim, walk or do yoga as often as I can. I believe its fine to lose some at the beginning, but whatever your dr says is best.

It’s totally safe for you to loose weight while pregnant but not by extreme dieting or starving. It’s recommended that you stay active at least 30 minutes a day with walking or weight training. Healthier choices will be your best bet as well... like raw foods, nuts, more fish... things that will fill you but not have unhealthy fats and you can eat plenty and get full. Trying to balance it all isn’t easy but worth it. When I was pregnant with my second child I was having high blood pressure reading and it scared me straight. I didn’t want preeclampsia or have to be on insulin, or even run the risk of delivering early. Good luck girl
