Opinions?

Okay so here lately I’ve had a lot of confidence issues due to my weight. I’ve realized that I need to lose weight. So my question is.. what do you think would be more effective in the long run? Would it be worth it to spring for a gym membership? Or could I loose just about as much weight by walking near my home? My only concern with the gym membership is that I work A LOT and I’m just afraid that I’m gonna waste my money..
