Who’s married?!

I really wanna know who’s married here honestly and who’s just playing house with their boyfriend. 
It’s just weird, I read so many posts on here about “my husband ignores me” “my husband said I’m ugly and wants to leave” “my husband called me fat” 
Like LADIES, this isn’t how a husband is suppose to treat you! It sounds like your dating and you just want to make it sound like he actually committed.

we've been together for 16 years, own our house together, have a child on her way... having a piece of paper doesn't make a relationship any different... ppl just get divorced anyways, marriage doesn't actually mean anything to a lot of ppl

Everybody wants to be called a wife on here, but then claim “I don’t believe in marriage” and “marriage is just a piece of paper”, yet they still wanna use the wife/husband title. Idc but it is definitely misleading when they do that and hypocritical. If marriage is just a piece of paper, why call this man your husband and his mother your MIL?

For those saying “marriage is just a piece of paper” need to realize the importance of a legally binding document. 
If anything was to happen to your “partner” and you two don’t own property or anything together (say the house is in his name but the cars are in your name) his/her next of kin gets the items that are not legally yours. 
If anything was to happen to your partner (something awful like a car accident) the doctors wont talk to a girlfriend, they don’t care how long you’ve been together, they speak to next of kin to make major life decisions.
Unless they have a living will stating their desires if anything serious was to happen, there are no safety nets, no insurance policies, and a lot of pain. 
I’m not saying to marry your dude/girl just to be safe, but marriage is important for a reason, it protects everyone and everything in case something was to happen. 
One woman was with her “husband” for 20 years, but they never bothered to seal the deal, he passed randomly and his older kids came in and took everything from her and their children because he not only didn’t have a current will to include her, but her children had her last name which made things difficult in court. 
Long story short, a piece of paper would have saved her home, cars and allowed her to make the decision to pull the plug when he was on life support. She’s back on her feet now, but for 3 years she was in a very tough situation. All because of a piece of paper.

I was married, but I knew my worth and got tired of being one of those ladies not treated properly.. so I left. Now I am engaged to the most amazing man ever. I seriously realized that I didn’t know what true love in a relationship was before this man. We don’t plan on rushing the engagement and probably won’t get married for another year or two, but I’m where I’m supposed to be ❤️

Eh, a husband can be just as crappy as a boyfriend. A title isn’t going to change that. I’ve never really thought to question the validity of women calling their SOs “husband,” because unfortunately, many women DO get married to awful men. It happens all the time. Just because a man is willing to get married doesn’t necessarily make him a good partner, or even more committed. It also doesn’t really change the advice I would give a lot of the time, if a man is treating her poorly. Married or not, I would hope she would recognize her worth and not stand for abusive behavior. 
Personally, I am married. My husband and I never lived together before marriage, but I don’t judge others who do.

Just because your not married doesn’t mean your not committed. How does a piece of paper mean that your relationship is anymore solid then others who aren’t married? The way a husband is supposed to treat his wife is the exact same way a boyfriend is supposed to treat his girlfriend.

Being previously married for 6 years, I bought into the "idea" that because we were married, we were different than anyone not married because we had vows.... Being out side of it and in a committed relationship with a house, dog, cat and baby on the way, I have realized that marriage does not make a relationship better or different or more meaningful. Your relationship should be exactly as it is before you commit to marriage. You should be able to be just as committed to that person before and after marriage. Being in the military, I work with so many people who get married /divorced every single day. Same thing happens to them as it did to me and so many other people. You think that the relationship will be so much better and more meaningful after marriage. You need to be working on the foundation long before marriage. Because a majority of Americans are Christian, non married couples get judged but you know what, my boyfriend will get married on our terms when our time is right, not when everyone around us finds the necessity to judge.
