How to get your husband onboard!?

I have already made up my mind about cloth diapering. I been researching and watching YouTube and have even started on my stash 🙈 recently told my hubby I have made my decision and we r cloth diapering. His response was “that’s disgusting”... 🤔 like seriously!?! It will save sooo much money and its environmentally friendly so I’m ALLL about it!! Not to mention the amount of cute patterns that are out there!! Anyway, has any of you ladies had a problem with your husbands getting on board with cloth diapering? If so how did u get them to accept the concept.. we r cloth diapering no matter what but I want him to like it and support me and most of all HELP me with diaper changes even though they won’t be disposables? TIA beautiful ladies 🌻💐

I don’t think forcing him to change his mind is a good mindset. I’d make sure you have easy to put on diapers and make sure he knows how to use them. After that tell him it’s up to him what he chooses to use but that he’s responsible for picking up disposables when you run out.

I do both. When ya just me taking care of the kids I’ll use cloth. When my husband or a someone else is watching them they use disposable. He really does not like it because he hates all the snaps and gets frustrated fighting lt the right snaps for the right fit (which really is not hard but he wants to be done quickly). It bothered me at first but now I don’t really care. If him helping with diapers means when he does a change he will put them in disposable then that’s fine. We are still lowering our cost and impact on the earth with all the times I use cloth instead.

this is funny to me because my husband actually had to get me on board for cloth diapering. He did all the research and showed me all the folds for the prefolds. Maybe ask him to do some research on his own about it so that he can make an informed decision about it. If he's really not on board, tell him he can pick up and use disposables when he's with baby but that you think cloth is best when you are changing baby.

It sounds like cleanliness is his hang up? So maybe showing some articles or books that talk about cleaning, having many sources agreeing that breastfed poop is totally water soluble, explaining you can use liners once they start eating solids, getting some washing machine cleaning tablets, etc.

With cloth or with disposable diapering, you are both going to be touching a lot of bodily excretions about equally as much, in my opinion. Cloth diapers typically have less chance of blowout and diaper rash actually. But I second the sentiment that you shouldn’t force your husband from the getgo. Men often need to see the merits of something in action before they will hop on. Also it’s kind of a pick your battles thing. There are going to be a lot of decisions made in parenting. Decide if this is a battle you want to fight or if comprise is acceptable.

My husband was against it but once he realized my passion and dedication for it he’s on board, though he thinks it’s nasty. 
I’m all for the environmental and cost saving aspects too.

You could get some ai1 or have some prestuffed pockets to make it feel easier more like a disposable for him...I’m using flats and ai2 with snap in inserts. My fiancé has actually been fairly supportive and even learning to use the flats....however I do about 80%+ of the diaper changes

My fiancé wasn’t a big fan of it but I told him how much we would save and I just took charge. He works all day and I change pretty much all of the diapers. He definitely like disposables more and gets frustrated with the cloth but he does it.

My husband wasn’t onboard because of the extra laundry.... because I have a hard time keeping up anyway. But once he realized we were saving money by cloth diapering. 
It was super hard to convince him spending the 500-600 to get started was worth it.... but now he brags about saving so much money. We maybe spend $10 a month on the laundry detergent to wash them.
