its not the end of the world

hi ladies, just wanted to share my story. i was diagnosed with GD at 26 weeks. i cried about it for a few days and then i dived into researching how to manage it. i started a paleo diet plan (which is a ketogenic low carb diet). i lost tons of weight during my pregnancy but baby remained around the 50th percentile and was extremely active and healthy. when i gave birth i was 10kg lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight but my baby boy was so healthy and perfect. i had an induction at 39+2 and a short labor of 4hrs with 1hr of active labor. once his head was staying down he came in just one push. the midwives remarked how alert he was. 3.5kg, so healthy, no issues. he latched easily and breastfeeding went fine. paleo keto diet was great. i didn't stick to it perfectly every day and the occasional bad numbers but i was managed solely with diet and exercise, avoided insulin and other meds. aside from paleo i went for a walk after meals or otherwise a HIIT session. i had my follow up GTT last month and everything was normal. im continuing with paleo + exercise but not beating myself up if i have a bad food day. just wanted to share a positive story because you can beat it. when i was told GD is a form of prediabetes i saw it as a blessing because it was my chance to get my health on track before things got real bad. it was like a glimpse to the future. so anyway, if youve just been diagnosed with GD, let yourself be sad for a bit if you feel the need, then make an action plan and just do your best. you got this.
