Am I the only one getting SUPER annoyed with EVERY friend of mine suddenly deciding without asking to call themselves “auntie ____” and calling my kid their nephew?? He’s due June 13th and I’ve started just telling everyone only people who are actually aunts can call themselves auntie. I have one friend I would be ok with calling herself auntie if she wanted to because she and I are so close and she will be a huge part of my son’s life. But the other 6 people who have started randomly calling themselves auntie I see maybe a couple times a year? Why do you feel the need to call yourself auntie? And why do you just assume I’m ok with it without asking me first?

For me if you’re going to have my son call you auntie then I should be the one to ask you, it shouldn’t just be assumed. Also if you’re going to call yourself auntie then you’d better be a very large part of his life. Not just a friend I see once or twice a year that I’m not even that close to.

Is it just me or is this something other people are dealing with/annoyed with too?
