Worried about school shootings?

I know my daughter is still so young, but the current state of the world (Atleast the US) is extremely troubling. I don’t think there wasn’t a month during the last year I didn’t hear something about a shooting of some sort.

Now this isn’t a debate about the second amendment or gun owner rights. I’m just wondering if any of you other mamas are already worried about schools someday. If it’s this bad now, how is it going to be in 5-10 years?

My thoughts are maybe in the way distant future there will be no more public schools (government gives them less and less funding every year anyway) and all children will complete their studies “online” or in a virtual classroom of some sort. Real life social skills will suffer but children will be safer in their own homes.

Just a silly theory for now. Doubt it will ever come to that but I’m still incredibly worried. What do you ladies think about all this?
