Teen pregnancy rant???
For some odd reason, I’ve seen SO, SO many people discussing teen pregnancy in a positive light, that it’s almost encouraged. I’ve also read/heard everyone’s opinion but the actual children themselves. So from a product of teen pregnancy herself, these are 3 reasons it totally sucks and you shouldn’t do it.
1. Usually teen parents can only provide one of two key things, emotional or financial stability. It’s rare you’ll have the luxury of both. Nearly all children and teens I’ve talked to who are from teen parents have serious, deep seeded resentment for being denied one or the other, like not being financially secure enough to provide some opportunities needed, or not being emotionally invested enough.
2. It’s fucking hard. You’re teenage choices ultimately influence that child for life. As a general rule, children of teen pregnancy have low birth rates, are more likely to develop cognitive and behavioral issues, are more likely to fail or drop out of school, are more likely to have a teen pregnancy themselves, are more likely to develop substance abuse, will generally never get further than lower middle class, etc. There are always exceptions, but as a general rule there are so many kids who fall through the cracks.
3. You’re not going to be a top tier parent, sorry. Again there are always exceptions, and a teen parent might do a better job raising a child than an actual adult, but as a general rule, you won’t. You’ve barely been raised enough yourself, so how do you expect to raise someone else. Also a majority of teens are unwilling to give up the freedom and opportunity that teen pregnancy costs.
PSA: this isn’t meant to further discourage someone who might actually be a pregnant teen/young adult. It’s meant to honestly shine light on why you shouldn’t be encouraged to intentionally pursue that lifestyle if not already.
Also if ya have anything to add please do, I could defo use more stable and valid reasoning besides the obvious!!
