Tylenol with codeine???

Sucely

I'll start off by saying I have a herniated disc and it is very painful. Before we became pregnant I was issued my medical marijuana card by my primary care physician in place of opiates which I was very against taking. When we found out we were pregnant I quit smoking. it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be quitting when I previously had to smoke atleast 3 times a day to keep pain free. Well now that I'm 13 weeks 6 days and am getting a little tummy. My back pain is out of control!! I cried today it hurt so bad. my doctor prescribed me acetami/codeine 300 and told me it is safe till the end. I trust her. But I am a unsure on how even small amounts of codeine will affect my baby . my questions are has anyone else been prescribed acetami/codeine 300? what do you think? And does anyone have other suggestions to help me with my pain? I really just want what is healthiest for my baby but I can't seem to get this pain under control with out smoking and no I haven't smoked even when I've been crying in pain. Please no rude comments I am a sensitive person to begin with lol happy and healthy pregnancies to all ☺

Kinesiology tape! It really helps with musculoskeletal pain and will help keep the weight distribution off of your back. It might limit the pain so you don’t have to take it as often. I have 3 herniated discs myself but luckily don’t have issues yet (only 8 weeks); I’ve already stocked up on tape just in case. I do want to say that while it is safe for pregnancy, any Tylenol product increases the risk of ADD/ADHD/autism. I don’t know if that’s a risk factor for you, but I am high risk so I’ll be avoiding it as long as possible. I 100% understand needing the medication though. I used marijuana as well before finding out I was pregnant for the same reasons; I avoid opiates at all costs. Good luck momma!

Yoga also works great for me but my OB told me to hold off until the second trimester and stick to prenatal classes, because I’m still a novice 😅

Oh good thinking! My grandparents use cannabis (I’m honestly not sure if it’s THC or CBD based) lotion for their arthritis and carpal tunnel and it works so great for them. I believe the molecules are too large to absorb through the skin and into the bloodstream 😃

Thank you!! I will look into the tape! I was going to ask my more western medicine obgyn if the topicals from the medical dispensaries would be okay

I was prescribed it when I was pregnant with my daughter because I had an abscess and my daughter was born without a problem. Plus you can also keep smoking, it isn’t harmful.

I live in a town where heroin and meth are bad. I kinda feel like my obgyn classified me as a druggie when I showed her my medical card. We arnt sure if we like her yet

That’s understandable lol. Luckily my hospital doesn’t care, or they don’t check my urine for it because I haven’t heard anything about it.

Thank you. I quit kust because I don't want a case worker or cyfd to be in our lives.

codeine is an opiate BTW....if you are against taking them, I wouldn't take what your doc suggested. I suffered a back injury in 2013 in a roll over accident, unfortunately I am just dealing with the constant discomfort. my doctor will not allow anything other than extra strength tylenol or I can see a specialist for prednisone (which studies have shown to cause birth defects in pregnant mice).

lol I'm aware it's a opiate. that's why I wanted to see if there are any alternatives. I don't want my baby with drawing because I couldn't handle my pain. I was taking extra strength Tylenol but they didn't

I don’t know if seeing a chiropractor would be helpful but maybe that with minimal Tylenol 3 would be helpful?

that is what I was thinking too. I'm a little afraid of chiropractors because I have had a bad experience. But I'll do anything! I just want to be healthy

Get yourself an exercise ball. Look up stretches to do for ruptured/herniated disc. I have 3 one on side. Happened when I was 18 weeks pregnant. Absolutely changed my back. I physically could walk for a week. The best exercise for pain relief is laying on the ball (on your back). Literally just hang your body over the ball. Do this in the meantime while you get a physical therapy appointment. I was prescribed Vicondin, a muscle relaxer and used CBD edibles to help me walk to use the restroom.

you absolutely won't regret it. I've always had back problems. I've literally been in pain since I was 16, in my back. After the exercises (2 weeks multiple times a day), I have ZERO pain. I didn't even know that was possible for me anymore.
