VBAC’s are possible! Always remember you can ask for a second opinion. Do not feel obligated to go to a certain OB/GYN. Before I tell my story I will tell you that my OB said nobody gives vaginal birth when they wear less than a size 6 shoe.... holy shit the most stupid thing I have ever heard. I wish I would have left him at 38 weeks when he said this to me. I am on 5 feet tall and non-pregnant weight is 105 but very healthy and active.

With my first daughter my OB decided to induce me a week early(39 weeks) mostly just due to being uncomfortable which looking back now it was a huge mistake. I didn’t do enough research to realize the risks of induction. Unfortunately my induction went horribly wrong. The pitocin was extremely harsh on my body and at 3cm I got an epidural at which time they also inserted a Foley catheter. After the epidural I felt much better but I didn’t realize things were about to go very wrong. After 18 hours(24 hours total) of labor I told my husband I felt the urge to push. At the same time my sister looked at the urine bag and said it was pink and bloody. The nurse came into check me and told me I was 9cm but not to move and ran out of the room. I was so excited thinking I was so close to pushing. Then a team of doctors and anesthesiologist came in my room. He looked at me and said I was going to the OR for an emergency c-section.

The catheter that was placed after the epidural was inserted into my uterus and not my bladders. Since this happened my bladder became distended ultimately stopping my contractions and all of my daughters amniotic fluid was drained. Luckily my daughter was okay but I was devastated.

The next day the OB came in and explained the situation but also stated that due to my pelvis I was most likely going to need a c-section anyways. So I should not be so upset.

Flash forward 3 years later new OB and new pregnancy. My new OB said I had a prominent sacral bone but she had seen women with worse give birth with the same issue, so she didn’t understand why my previous OB would think I would need to have another c-section. On November 24th I gave birth to my second baby girl vaginally!!! And may I say it was easy no complications what’s so ever!

I want to put my story out their so women stand up for themselves and not to be scared to get second opinions.

My c-section scar. Always a reminder of how strong I am.
