Is he intrested in the converstion or ?

Do short responses from a guy mean anything ? Me and this guy we just reconnected after a year bc we didnt get along. So now we are texting again he seems like he wants to text me but his responses are short to the point. I go along with it bc I dont want to seem desperate. I just wish he’d say more sometimes.

Example:

Him: I hate being at work

Me: Oh why lol?

Him: my boss is annoying

Me: Oh thats the worst

Him: Yeah it is lol

You see what I am saying.. its like he wants to talk to me but the conversation gets dry. Whenever I try to say more .. he pulls away and gives me a short answer 🙄. So I just ended up not replying.
