C-section?

Question

Why are people so afraid of a c-section? Im pregnant with my first and due to a tumor in the way, I may have to have one so I’m curious what makes people so nervous about them.

It’s major abdominal surgery. All surgeries come with risk. I will fight to avoid one.

I've had 2 vaginal births and 2 c sections. The recovery is much harder than with a vaginal birth, and sometimes it can limit how many children you have if you want a big family. I also hated not getting to hold my baby right away and care for the baby on my own after my c sections compared to my 2 vaginal births where I was up and functioning immediately. But the surgery in and of itself isn't bad.

I had a c-section with my first (breach baby), and having a planned one with my second. 
Of course I have nothing to compare it to, but it wasn’t as bad as Ive heard people make it out to be. It is major surgery, so just know your limitations, and keep up with pain meds, and you’ll be fine

I had two csections. Maybe it was because I didn’t have help- but the recovery was easy. The day after getting out of the hospital I had to take my newborn and toddler for groceries cause my husband at the time was a lazy slob

Scheduled C-sections are different than emergency C-sections.

A c-section is a major surgery and it’s a very painful recovery and the recovery period is 8 weeks I stead of 6. The first time I got to see my baby for more than a minute and breastfeed was almost 12 hours after the surgery. Also, my epidural was placed too high. I had trouble breathing and couldn’t swallow in addition to my blood pressure dropping.  It was scary.

Giving birth is risky in general but I think due to the fact that it's a surgical procedure, there are other risks. I've heard stories of the doctors cutting the baby, and my husband worked with someone who ended up with major complications after the doctor somehow managed to cut her bladder during the csection (but they didn't realise at the time, she just got very sick very quickly).
