Anybody Know if You’re Supposed to Fast for the 1 Hr GTT?

Question

FTM. I’m getting my one hour glucose tolerance test done on Wednesday, but my doctor didn’t mention at my last appointment whether or not I’m supposed to fast for it... anybody know whether fasting is typically required for the one hour? Or no? This is all the lab orders say:

Also, if I am supposed to fast, for how long? Thanks.

Personally I would faint if I had to fast. 
Is this the gestational diabetes test? In Canada we have to drink an orange pop in 5 min then wait around for an hour and they retest our blood. Definitely double check and ask your doctor but I can't imagine a pregnant woman fasting.

girl let me just give you my experience with this damn test. i was SO worried about failing that i cut out sugars and carbs for three days before i took it. my number was SKY high to the point where my doc just referred me to a dietician and skipped the 3 hour test. i’ve been testing my blood sugar 4 times a day for over a month now and not ONCE has my number gone over or even come close to the limit. So in my opinion, do not change your diet or fast to try and “cheat” the test because you still could fail. 🤦🏼‍♀️ #lessonlearned

I did not have to fast but just give your Dr office a call before wednesday and they can answer. I have seen on here that some doctors want fasting results.

Yes fast! I had a morning appointment so I was told to not eat after 9pm( which I normally don’t) . At first my dr said I could have toast with butter but that threw off my results and I had to do it again with fasting and passed... not sure why she said I could eat when the test would be off... so fast

I didn’t have to fast for mine but you can call the dr’s office and double check. I know for the 3 hour one you do fast but i don’t think it’s common practice to fast for the one hour. I made myself a bowl of scrambled eggs and bacon so I’d have lots of protein to combat all that sugar!

I was told not to have anything but water after midnight until after the test I know it can be rough if you have an afternoon appt I made sure to get an early appt
