Ovulation testing postpartum

Hi ladies.! I’ve got a “when should I start testing” question. I have an almost 8 month old and have had only 2 periods that started in April then again in May. Cycles have been long (44 days.) We are actively wanting to try for #2. When do you recommend me starting to test for ovulation?

I’m CD 13 today...but I know cycles can be irregular postpartum and I don’t want to miss! Thanks in advance!!
