Losing words?

My daughter use to say dog and woof anytime we see a dog. Lately she doesn’t seem to care and doesn’t say dog anymore. Any one else’s kid not saying words they use to know?

I'm the second oldest of 5 and on my third child now. Trust me, this is normal. Toddlers are explorers and lack any semblance of patience. Learning is a process that seems random. Their love of reading a book while cuddling is suddenly replaced with screaming maniacally while destroying your floor by systematically crushing each individual cheerio from a snack cup with their quick little feet. The quality time once spent reciting animals and the noises they make becomes a loud exclamation of "NO" after every every word out of your mouth, as if it were the only word you had ever taught them to say. It's completely normal. Cherish these moment because they are gone so quickly. Once you have a way-too-smart-for-their-own-good pre-ker using manipulation tactics that should be written about in an international spy how-to guide, you'll look back and wonder why you were so worried.

you don't know how many documentaries and YouTube videos streamed trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong! he has no interest in words or reading anymore. he only says hello and goodbye with the occasional Papa and no. it ate away at me so bad because I let social media make me think he should be singing the alphabet or reading flash cards. i felt horrible as a mom until I spoke to his classroom teacher and she basically told me his on track with everything. according to her they observe more now and spend most of their time thinking things out, their meaning and use.

My son used to say a lot more and stopped for a few months and just this week added a ton of new ones. He was saying baba, thank you, that, Mom, Dad, dog. Then for a few months only would say Dad, that, and dog. This last week he started saying kitty, uh oh, ow, hot, mom, mmm, yay 😊

I've noticed my daughter will do the same with different words. I don't think they've lost it it's just that they are not interested in saying them.

Same here! My boy has said around 20 words but sticks to Mama Papa Abu and Titi... he babbles the rest, and sings along with every song but doesn’t use words much. I’ve bee trying everything reading and describing everything we do. I guess he will do it when he wants to, as everything else. Waiting for the 18 mo appointment to talk it with the doctor.

My daughter is. She was saying a few words before her first birthday but it seemed as soon as she learned to walk she stopped talking. She's back up to saying Dada and Done but anything else is babbling. I asked on her and a few other Moms are saying the same. We have her 18 month appointment in a few weeks so I'm going to ask then. She follows simple directions and tries to sing and such so I guess I can't be too worried. Her twins is talking like crazy. He repeats many words... pretty much tries every word when we play the repeat game but his words he can point out is over a dozen, not including animal sounds

Yes, my favorite was when she would say her own name and she did it for about a month and now we can’t get her to say it.... like it’s old news. But she is saying different things constantly.
