Is it important to know the gender of your baby?

Personally I struggle to reasons with gender reveals. Lots of questions come to mind. E.g. how can we, as a society move forward into fair equality between sexes if we still prioritise boys over girls vice versa? This could also be applied to birth defects or issues. Isn’t giving life to a child and a dazzling ball of energy to Mother Nature the most important? Does knowing if you have a boy or girl help you to connect with your baby before they are born?

For me, knowing my baby’s gender did help both my husband and I to feel more connected, as we lost a child in March 2017. That being said, I don’t believe it’s a necessity, and I fully plan to raise my kid knowing that she has the ability to go into ANY profession, play ANY sport, etc. What’s most important to me is that I teach her kindness and acceptance. We are surrounded by many people from a variety of backgrounds...straight, gay, black, white, etc. I believe it’s the role of the parent(s) to teach their children acceptance and to offer it themselves, as well.

I agree. I have already seen friends heavily gender their own kids. applying stereotypes  Before they are old enough to walk. I don't care for it. That is why my husband and I will find out the gender at birth. at least this way all the early toys, and clothing items will be gender neutral.
