Dating MS-13 gang member over Republican?

So I’ve seen a lot of articles of people saying they would rather date or have their child date a member of MS-13 over a republican or Trump supporter. (I’ve seen it worded both ways.)

Here’s a picture from an interview. It’s on Fox News, which I totally agree and understand is a biased news outlet. I do not use it as a primary news source, just popped up on my Facebook feed.

Do you think this is just a ploy for attention? It seems like a pretty extreme thing to say.
