potty training day 2

backstory: my 26 month old son, periodically would go to the bathroom by himself. we decided it was time to potty train. yesterday was 50/50. with some breakthroughs I thought in understanding. today so far as been 100% accidents. been awake for two and a half hours and already went through 5 pairs of underwear. peed on the couch, the chair, two floor matts, the carpet. my question is, is he just not ready? am I forcing it? if I switch back to diapers, I feel like I'm undoing everything we've done. is this normal? I have rewards, m and Ms, his tv show, going outside to play. should I just push through this?
