When are you telling your boss?

Hi! I’m trying to figure out when to tell my boss. I will be starting a new job (at the same place, with the same boss) in September and we have been talking a lot about preparation and scheduling and what not for the new job. My gut is saying I should be transparent and let her know fairly soon so we can keep that in mind while planning. But I’m not so sure. What’s everyone else doing?

I start my orientatation today for my new job when i had my interview i had already known i was prego but i didnt tell her and now im not sure if i should tell her today or if i should wait until after my first appoitment next week thursday.

I have a new boss and i don't know him well so I am waiting. I would have told my previous eariler.
I'm gonna see how I go with morning sickness etc. and tell him when I think he needs to know.

I didn’t tell my boss with my first pregnancy and then I miscarried, she found out and was so supportive and I was so glad she knew what I was going through. So this time I went ahead and told her right away. I figured I’d want her to know either way (we have a very good relationship and she’s an awesome boss). I’m also in a very physical job so I wanted her to understand right away in case anything came up. I think it depends on what your relationship is like with your boss and if you have a job with particular risks.

I work with children who have autism and can be aggressive. so I let him know last Friday. I'm 5 weeks and 1 day today. 
I also work at a small workplace, so we all are pretty close and supportive.

Depending on what kind of job you have, I would wait. Personally I had to tell as soon as I found out because I monitor anesthesia on patients, take radiographs, and lift heavy animals all day. But you if you have a fairly low stress and not physically demanding job, I would wait at least til 12 weeks!

I’m in the same boat! Literally 5 minutes ago I got my BFP! 2 months ago I got promoted (I was on a 6 month trial) I’m personally gonna wait until a bit further into the pregnancy. The only hard part for me is that I know the promotion is going to lead to not passing the trial. Good luck girl, I’m sure your boss will be fine :)
