Downs scan ?

Has anyone had a Down’s syndrome ultrasound check other then the blood test . What do they check for?

I just had mine. For Down Syndrome, they focus on this thin gap of fluid behind the baby’s neck. They measure the width of that gap. That measurement, combined with your age, and bloodwork determine your risk for DS. During the ultrasound they also did a quick anatomy scan to look at the 4 chambers of the heart, the two brain hemispheres, the nasal bone, the umbilical cord and the stomach.  I think that was it, along with the standard measurement to see how baby is growing. We ended up having a few pictures to take home with us.

Okay when I went yesterday, the ultrasound tech said there are two things in the scab: the nasal bone, and a measurement between the nape of the neck. Ideal range is 3mm or less. I don’t understand it exactly haha but that’s what I got from our conversation. Then that paired with blood test is one set of info, and you’ll get another later- my next sequential is at 16 weeks.
