Are you going back to work at 6-8 weeks ?

I am going back at 6 weeks and putting my baby in daycare and I’m having major anxiety now... and I’ve had a couple people tell me about the FMLA act (which is 12 weeks off but not paid ) but I feel like my boss would get upset if I took anymore time off bc he hired me pregnant. My short term disability plan only pays 6 weeks also.  I don’t want her to get all sick being in daycare so early on.

It absolutely isn’t fair! I take it you’re in the US? I’m in Aus and I get a year. To me, that still isn’t enough. I’m probably going to change careers so I can stay home with her during the day.

If you were hired during pregnancy, you might not qualify for FMLA.  A lot of places require a year of service before you qualify for FMLA.  There always has to be at least 50 employees before a company is required to follow FMLA.
But, you can always talk to your manager.  They may be willing to work with you.  It is really hard going back to work - especially at 6/8 weeks postpartum!

Man I can't imagine not living in Canada. I am taking a year but Canadians were just given the option recently for 18 months last year.

I’m going to try to use all 12 weeks of my FMLA. I might have to go back at 8 weeks though. I just toured a daycare yesterday 😭😭

Thankfully I’m a stay at home mom for now. Once all my kids are in school, I’ll work again, unless we fall on hard times and I have to help of course. I can’t imagine having to leave my baby so little. I admire the mommies who want to stay home but sacrifice to provide. My mom is always apologizing to us for not staying home with us. We tell her we love her for it and appreciate her for all her hard work. She thought she was doing the best for us by working and now she says she regrets all that time she wasted working to buy us things when all we needed was her. It’s been 35 years and she always talks about it. It really stuck with me and I dreaded having that regret so before having babies, or even getting married, I told my husband I’d be staying home with my babies and he agreed. So props to you working mommies. You are so strong and all your effort and sacrifice will not go unnoticed by your children

Same here! I started a new job in January. We agreed to 8 weeks since I wasn’t eligible for FMLA. I’m sad.
I’m not ready to leave him Monday. 😞
