Unmedicated natural birth?

For those who have gone through it before, would you recommend it? I’m trying to weigh my options for when the time comes and I’m having a difficult time coming up with a birth plan

Of course! Why not? There are way more cons to medicated birth than there are to natural. Just do all your research. Weigh up all possibilities and make sure you understand the risks to you and to baby, depending on the types of medication you're considering. Including outcomes like cesarean / forceps / vacuum due to epidurals, etc.
Ive had a natural birth myself, and yeh it hurts, of course it does, but you'll be so glad you did it! You are a woman. You are literally designed for this! You'll be fine x

I had an unmediated birth because “my body was designed for this” and “my body will heal faster” and “I can do anything that sucks for just a few hours”. You know what? I will never do that again. I threw up with every contraction from 8 centimeters to birth, tore like crazy, then had to get stitched up. It was a life experience that I did once, but I’ll definitely never go un medicated again.

I had a birthing class yesterday and we talked about this. Of course you can handle a natural birth! Our body’s are made to do it. But the nurse was saying it’s about your mental state during the pain. If something were to start going wrong and you needed to stay extremely mentally focused and follow directions from your nurse and doctor to move into a new position or stop pushing or do something else. Will you be able to fight through the pain and what your body naturally is telling you to do to listen to them and do what they say? She said too often in a situation like that she has to fight the mother to save mom and baby. That made a lot of sense to me. I have a pretty high pain tolerance and I was debating natural. But I know with an epidural I’ll be way more mentally focused and able to be aware of exactly what’s happening and exactly what I need to do. But that’s just me🤷🏼‍♀️ to each their own.

You don’t have to “choose”. I wanted to try natural but was clear that I might change my mind since I’d never been in labor before. Well after 10 or 11 hours of labor including puking nonstop the entire time I got an epidural. It was freaking heaven!
But I’ll try natural again this time. If labor doesn’t last 24 hours again and I’m not puking I might be able to do it. 😂

I clicked no don’t do it on accident- you should do whatever you want to do! I had medication with all of mine but made it through almost full labor with two of them before I got an epidural AND I had pitocin for the last one... it was HORRIBLE. I wished I had chosen not to let them give me pitocin and had gone completely unmediated. I went into labor on my own and the stupid doc just wanted to speed it up.

2 out of 3 kids were born at home. It was amazing. I had waterbirths with my second and third child. So relaxing being at home. My labors were short and I felt nothing.

I did it, and I’m planning to do it again. 
Definitely take some classes if you can, or at least do some reading. It’s not just show up and don’t get any drugs - there are strategies for relaxation and pain management that will help you a lot. I used Bradley method; there’s also hypnobirthing and others.

I’m going to go as long as I can without it. I don’t know how I handle main like that and I’ve read where some women have got sick from the pain with throwing up. I’d rather have the medicine than throwing up while I’m in labor. I just have the option of it there if I want it.
