When do you tell your boss you're pregnant?

I'm a nanny. So a Mom is my boss, right now I've been dealing with nausea in the morning so the three little boys under 4 years old are a little much for me. But I love my job. How do I go about telling her? I feel like she'll react like "oh no... so you'll be gone in 8 months?" And that's definitely not the case. Maybe I should start it by reminding her I am planning on staying. Help!

Just tell her you’re pregnant but plan to stick around. I told my boss at 9 weeks and said I’m planning to take leave and come back to work. Tell her now so she can start thinking of childcare for when you’re on leave, if you choose to take some time off.

I didn’t tell my boss until almost 5 months in. He’s a jerk and was completely rude about me being pregnant. I’m a support provider (sometimes I feel like I’m just a babysitter) so he had to find someone to fill in while I was out. Better to tell them ASAP so they can be prepared and find someone to fill in

I’m a nanny too! I told her almost right away because we are very close and she was so excited. She asks me if I’m feeling okay, if I need any time off, etc. Some moms won’t want you to continue working when you have a baby of your own (if you plan on bringing them to work) but most don’t mind.
